How to Prepare Your Airbnb for a Professional Photoshoot - Full Checklist
Professional photos work best when the space is prepared properly and presented in a way that helps guests imagine themselves staying there. A polished setup can add hundreds, if not thousands per year to your revenue and instantly boost click through rates.
Declutter every room
Surfaces should be cleared completely before the shoot. Remove personal items, remote controls, cables, paperwork and anything that does not belong in the guest experience.
Perfect the layout
A photographer can help fine tune, but it is best to start with a layout that flows well. Pull furniture forward, straighten chairs, centre cushions and remove bulky items.
Add small styling touches
Fresh towels, plump cushions, a neat throw, flowers, fruit bowls or a coffee tray can make a huge difference. The key is to make the space feel relaxing and ready to enjoy without the guest needing to do anything.
Clean the details you think no one notices
Dust on shelves, fingerprints on glass, streaks on taps and marks on walls will show up on a high quality image. A pre shoot clean is essential.
Switch on all lights and replace dead bulbs
Light is everything in photography. Make sure every room is evenly lit before your photographer arrives.
Open curtains and blinds fully
Let as much natural light in as possible. Photographers can then balance the exposure to create bright and welcoming images.
Check the weather forecast
If the exterior is important for bookings, schedule the photos on a bright day when possible.
Show seasonal extras
If your accommodation has a hot tub, fire pit or outdoor seating, show it set up as if a guest would be using it.
